Love is in the Air.......

Another Love Card - this time I'm using Pure Love C1270 from CTMH. This is my first try at a new technique for me and I'm not sure I'm in love with the results. May have to try again with a little less paint. Thought I would share the starter for 10 and maybe today I will make another and see if it looks better with less paint.

Happy Anniversary Card

Well it was my 17th Anniversary yesterday - here's the card I made my hubbie - all supplies other than embossing powder which is copper - I needed the brown.

Enjoy

Happy Easter

Yes - I know its early but well I've moved on again. From Valentine now to Easter what will you do with me. This is a sample of a flip flap fold which I will be teaching in January to my clubs. Love the card and I like how the liquid glass just adds some gloss.
Colors are sweet leaf, chocolate, spring iris and buttercup.

In My Heart

This is one of my projects for December. I've finally moved on from Christmas and now onto the next holiday for me. This is made using a laughing cow cheese cow box which is painted and then decorated. Just fill it with heart candy and give it to the one you love!

Imagine Layouts

Some new layouts to share - I know I haven't shared much recently but life has been crazy around here - will try to get better. These layouts are done using the Caprice papers which are just my favorite set at the moment. Pictures are from England for my daughters album.
I love this layout from the Imagine Layout book - its easy to do and has spaces for lots of pictures.

Cuttlebug Smoosh with a twist

This is a new technique from Technique Junkies (www.patstamps.com) which I love. Uses my latest favorite tool the cuttlebug and a foam brayer.

I made this card for a special friend who has a birthday coming up - I think she'll like it. I always try to make her card something different but something I know she can do herself. I know she has the cuttlebug not sure about the foam brayer but thats not hard to add to the tool list.

Anyways I hope you like.

Bib Card

I saw this idea on another blog so had to try it out. Its called a bib card because I guess it looks like a babies bib - all you need is a score blade and colluzle circle to make the basic card and then you can decorate how you want.
I made this one last night for a friend whose just had surgery for skin cancer - thought she needed cheering-up.

I used a circular window charm to add the flower then punched a hole for the brad - thought it added dimension. The words are embossed with my Cuttlebug - I love that thing!

Another Christmas Card

This card is a total lift from one of the stamping magazine - can't remember which - sorry! The snowman comes from the CTMH October Stamp of the Month - he's a cute little fellow to add to any card but I felt he worked in the focus here.

O Chirstmas Tree!

Here's another Christmas Card but with none traditional colors and a little sparkle. I'm teaching this one this month - a follow on to the tag card from last month as there is no stamping involved its all folding. Very clever folding of 5 different sized squares to be exact. I didn't come up with the idea but I certainly think its cute - don't you!

It's been a lot time But......

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
I know its been a longtime since I posted and the reason was I've taken on another part-time job and was justing trying to get myself organized into a new routine.

This is one of the new techniques from the technique junkies newsletter (www.patstamps.com). Its really easy to do and I love the effect. I dried this sample with a heat gun but prefer the look it creates when it dries naturally - but managed to cut my finger and bleed on that one so I won't share it until the replacement version dries.

I'm teaching this one this month so anyone in class will get to learn it.

Mini Purse Calendar

This idea was shared by another consultant and I love it. Changed it a little to make it my own. If you make one of these you'll not want to part with it. If you move your mouse over the pictures you will see the whole frame for that part.

Alcohol Inks

This months Better Homes and Garden Scrapbooking magazine had a great thing about using alcohol inks with transparencies so I had to play with this.

For a first attempt I was pleased with what I came up with - simple and clean but effective.

Very easy to do. Just take transparency and cover one side with the inks. Then when dry flip it over and stamp with stazon ink the images. I can see being a great quick design for Christmas cards.

Imagine - Scrapbooking

Spend Saturday scrapping and finally got the chance to use my new copy of the Imagine book from CTMH. The book is full of some really cool layout ideas as is Cherish. This time though there are more layouts for multiple pictures and some great ones for smaller pictures.
Really like how this layout came out using the explore paper packet and some brads for emblishments - even added a few stickers for good measure (haven't been a big sticker user for a while but thought these went perfectly). The pictures are a little old - well June 2004 but I've never claimed to be up to date with my scrapbooking - nearly finished this vacation album now only about 2 layouts left to do. Can't wait to finish it.

Paint and re-inker

The new distressing kit from CTMH comes with paint. The real cool thing about that is you can add re-inker to it and make any color you want. Add a few drops of the re-inker to the paint and mix. Don't add too much or it prevents it from drying so dark colors won't work very well but its great for soft colors.
On this card I added pansy purple to the paint and colored the dimensional element flower frame. Great way to color chipboard and the like.
Also on the card I made the lines on the cardstock using my friskar trimmer and my dry embossing tool. Line your cardstock on the trimmer and run the tool down the groove on the trimmer. Then I flipped it over and sanded it with the new sanding tool that came in the distressing kit. You can make lots of cool designs on your cardstock this way.

Autumn Splendor - Rainbow Double

Well Fall is nearly here so I've started out on some fall cards and colors. This is a technique I will be teaching and it was so much fun to do. Its a combination of resist and embossing and is called rainbow double. I love how vibrant the colors are. Makes me ready for fall color now.

Enjoy Your Day

Totally stamp lifted this from Brenda Harmless but thought it was such a cute card that I had to make it. Changed the ribbon and color a little but I love the look. The Stamp sets used are Rustic Alphabet and the new September Stamp of the Month Doodle Alphabet. Colors are Olive, Taffy and Cocoa.
Have a great Labor Day!

Ever worried about Acrylix Stamps

I know many worried about the Acrylix Stamps when they first came out and I did myself. I've now been using them for 2 years and they are holding up great. CTMH has released a video which you may like to watch about the testing of their stamps - remember no 2 companies stamps are the same. Click here to view the video

Photo Brag Card

Got asked to teach this at a Consultant workshop and I thought it came out cute. Its called a photo brag card and will be part of a class I teach in October for gifts for the holidays I think. Still working on my plans but I think this is a must. Its made using the new Caprice paper from CTMH and the September Stamp of the Month. It would make a great gift for Grandparents or other relatives you want to share pictures with cheaply. Best thing is its really easy to make so there is no excuse not to do it.

Wooden Paper Clips

Last Saturday I went to a stamp camp and we made some really cool projects. I especially loved this one as it was so simple. The large wooden paper clips come from Oriental Trading but all the other products are CTMH from the new fall catalog. I've got to order some more paper clips so I can make some different versions of this. I can see one for each season making a great desk calendar!

Ok - Here's another one using smaller tags

Cool Tag Flower Card

Excited to learn a new technique which works great with the double side patterned paper I used. No stamping this time. I can't wait to share this with my classes. Thanks Pat for sharing this with me.

Cards Cards everywhere........

I've been working hard on a swap all weekend and still have loads to do. I have to make 5 cards (6 of each) and then a 9 by 9 scrapbook page - well I've done 3 of the cards. Still quite a bit to do before Friday when I have to mail it.
What though was even more exciting was that I got the new Imagine Scrapbook Book - I can't wait to use it. So many cute ideas and some really great ideas and techniques. Now I just have to find time to do some scrapbooking. Plan A get the swap done and then I can. At least the kids go back to school next week and then I will have time to do it.

Here's another of my creations (not a swap one - I'll share these when I've done them all). The technique is called Faux Flock.

Cousins

I really haven't been doing much scrapbooking so have made a pledge to get back to it and create more. So here's the latest efforts. I'm really happy with it. The Cousins title was made using dimensional elements. First sponge the letters with color and then stamp image. Then you cover with liquid glass to make them shiny - love the look.
The journaling is fun - I found the poem on the internet and decided it said it all.

This layout will go in my special people album.

Bling and the Stamp of the Month

This is a cool card I've made with the current Stamp of the month from CTMH called Free Spirit. The circle stamps on this set are great and I love the little month one for using to date scrapbook pages.

This card also uses the adhesive sheets CTMH has - they are perfect as they are clear unlike other adhesive sheets. You stamp on you cardstock and then cover with the adhesive. I cut the circle using colluzle this time but you could use anything. Then remove the other side of the paper on the adhesive and cover with the prisma glitter - the glitter just sticks where you want it.

Back to School Soon

Well its nearly back to school for the kids and aren't I glad. This summer has been long.......and hot.........

Made this for the teachers this year - a bit of warm and fuzzy at the beginning of the year goes a long way. Very easy to make and the jars are from Michaels. Can you make them for lots of other occasions. This one is filled with small items of school supplies that a teacher may need in a year plus chocolate - well all teachers need that don't they!

Adhesive Sheets and Glitter

Shared this card with a class for the first time last night and they loved it. Very easy with the adhesive sheets. I like these as they are clear unlike the red tape sheets which have a yellow color to them. For this card we used a mask to create the circular area of stamping and then cut the adhesive sheet with the coluzzle so that it would fit exactly over where we had stamped. The sprinkle with your glitter and your done. Really easy to do. For the coluzzle challenged remember to hold the tool not like a pen. Otherwise you have a tend to hold it an angle like you would a pen and it won't glide.
The colors for this card are different sweet leaf, petal and white cardstock with hollyhock, sweet leaf, petal and blush ink.

Work in Progress

Made an album out of envelopes and chipboard yesterday. Its still a work in progress but thought I'd share so far. I think I need to add to the front page the year as the idea is to keep memories from this year in each envelope. The instructions for this album came from Simple Scrapbooks but I have changed it out as I used small envelopes as I didn't have a big enough piece of chipboard to make it that size.

Here's the list anyways - remember many of these items will not be replaced as they are sold between now and December so if you want something on this list you should order them now to be safe.

News From Leadership

The news from San Diego has been great. New products galore and no price increases. This was my biggest worry as Stamping Up had so many!

The best news is the new Cherish Book - Imagine. 50 more layouts for us all to work on. How cool is that. You can order from the 1st September so not long to wait.

In addition there are new Solo Numbers to add to our Solo Letters. I'm so excited as I have been wanting these for a while.

There has also been a change in the hostess benefits program - once you get to the $350 level as a hostess you can now purchase an item at 50% or choose from some pre-bundled packets of smaller products. This is a great way to purchase some of those larger items like the rolling cart. There has been a slight change from the freestyle awards but I think you will find this new program which rolls out from 1st September and is valid for the rest of this calendar year is to the customers benefit.

I will be England for the next 10 days and so I don't think I will have chance to post but come back in August and I will be posting more regularly again with lots of new product information and samples.

Finally the Cuttlebug Envelopes

Well the painters are finally finished and I can get to the camera again which was blocked in a cupboard by other furniture which meant I could access it. The place has been crazy with all the stuff in the wrong place so I'm glad to get everything back to normal a little.

Here are a couple of pictures of the envelopes I put through the cuttlebug embossing folder. As you can see it gives the envelope a really great texture which is so easy to do. On the red one I has to run it through twice as the flap was too large to do it in one go but it was easy to line-up so nobody would know. Now I need some more embossing folders to play with. One note of warning the word one didn't work as well I thought as the words went the wrong way (for me anyways). Have fun.

Today is the monthly crop that I run with Leslie - should be fun. I'm teaching the Christmas Card workshop as part of it as well. I promise to share some of the pages I make tomorrow.

Cuttlebug Fun

Do you own a cuttlebug if not can I suggest a purchase - I know us scrappers and stampers don't need an excuse but I love this little machine and so easy to use.

The embossing folders are the coolest thing ever and they work create with the white core of the Close to My Heart cardstock - if though you don't want the white core to show through you can sandwich your cardstock in some scrap cardstock and the extra thickness prevents the cracking of the surface covering of the cardstock.

I was reading split coast stampers last night and found a great tip for using the embossing folders on envelopes. You put the flap of the envelope into the folder and it makes them real cute - so guess what I'm doing today! Watch this space for examples.

Ball Park Fun

This weekend was fun. We went to see the Rangers play ball and just hung out on Sunday. I got busy preparing for some workshop I'm doing this week and for the painters who arrived today to start work. It's funny having people here working on your house around you!

I thought I'd share one the cards I'm teaching this week. Its uses the great vellum Close to My Heart Sells. You emboss the image with white embossing powder being careful with the heat so as not to bend the vellum. Then you color with the markers from behind. Makes a really nice soft color.

Another August Stamp of the Month Card

Another look with the same set of stamps and colors - this one has less green but I do like how the flower came out. I added a little prisma glitter to give it a little extra something.

This one came about from me posting the original card and then Shari Froemming used this to create her card which she shared with me. I then went back and used her card with my colors and came up with this one. Its funny how a design can change over time when you see another persons view on it. Same with scrapbooking. Give people the same supplies and pictures and they will come up with something different. I see this every month when I swap cards but its funny to see it with one card.

August Stamp of the Month

Had to get my sample done for the Stamp of the Month swap today. The August Stamp of the Month is really cute with lots of circles with words and some really cute birds. The colors that I could use were directed by the swap which limited me a little but I think what I came up with is cute.

I used the dimensional elements that Close to My Heart sells to make the flower and use the empressor guide and tool to make the sanded box.

If you want to see the August Stamp of the Month - you can go to my website - www.ronnie.myctmh.com and click on the picture of the July Stamp of the Month. At the bottom of that page there is a link to the August Stamp of the Month.

Canvas Clock

As promised here are the pictures of the clock now dry and face applied. I'm really happy with the effect and sure my mother-in-law will be as well. All products are Close To My Heart - other than the canvas board and clock parts. They are the More to Adore papers and the small stamp I used for the mat corners is from the playful flourishes set. I thought this worked great to accent the picture. Once again the picture is my daughter - need to make something with the son on soon or he may start to get jealous!

Sorry that the picture isn't the best - don't know what happened.

Newsletter Day

Today I feel like I've been at the computer all day as I was updating my website and creating my July newsletter. (If you want to read it you can find it under events on my website for July). Finally got it all done and treated myself to some creating this afternoon. I've had all the stuff ready to make a scrapbook clock for a while so finally I sat down to work on that. Its drying now and then I need to seal the board once more before I had the clock movement. When its totally finished I'll share. I'm happy so far with the creation.

I've also been working on Christmas Cards - seems a little early in July to be thinking about this but I have classes every month now until nearer the time so people can get their cards done in batches. I always believe that Christmas Cards should be simple if your making lots of them - no more than 5 steps in total otherwise you'll give-up before you even start. Thats the reason I really like this one. Its only a few short steps and your done. Cut the paper, adhere the papers, Stamp the stitches, Stamp the sentiments and your done. You could do this design with lots of different papers using up some of your stash. To make it more of a 'holiday' card rather than a Christmas use blue hues, some snowflake paper and stamp warm winter wishes instead. I like card designs which are functional and simple like this.

Recipe Card Tin Finished

Finally found time today to complete my sample recipe card tin. I'd made one before but gave it to someone before I took pictures and so I had to start from scratch again. I'm going to teach this as a workshop in August and I think it would make a great Christmas present for someone. All the products are from Close to My Heart and I used my Wishblade to create the 'Recipe' title for the front.

One piece of advice if your working with Modge Podge - I learnt this recently and it really works - paint the glue onto the paper and not the tin. Allow it to soak in a little as well.

Today was a Special Day

Today was the day my daughter got her pointe shoes for ballet. For a dancer this is like coming of age and what she has been working for since she started dancing at aged 4. For the scrapbooker it was a great photo opportunity and I can see the page in my head already - I've even saved the receipt to record how much they cost us!

The paper addict in me was really happy to discover a scrapbook store in the same strip mall. It wasn't great - I only managed to purchase 4 pieces of paper. I mean that is how I rate a store and so the Scrapbook Warehouse in Lewisville only gets 1 out of 10 from me. It was cute paper for my page about buying the shoes but I expected to spend a little more than $3!

With all the driving today didn't get any creating done - spent the morning trying to organise my creative space yet again. If anyone wants to come and do it for me they'd be welcome. I'm just hopeless. Every time I create something I make more mess and never clean-up after myself. And here's me telling the kids off for not cleaning-up after themselves. Tomorrow I plan to make a recipe card tin holder so watch out for pictures of that.

Scrapbooking Workshop - August

These are the first of two pages we will be making in August for my workshop at the crop. They are great for pictures of the kids with the grandparents. The pictures were taken in the Botanic Gardens and are so of my favorite pictures of the kids with the Grandparents. Email me for more details.
